Hope was found on the evening of 7th October, 2016 by my uncle and his cat. He called me and could barely explain what he was witnessing. I rushed to the spot with a basket and some money knowing that I had very little time.
She was found spread eagled as in the picture, trying to shout but mute from her injuries, completely motionless. How she got there no one knows. She was in tremendous pain. For a kitten of only 4 weeks she was suffering much more than most of us suffer in a lifetime.
The vets at Top Dog Clinic gave her timely treatment. She was given first aid for the bleeding wound, a pain killer, anti-inflammatory medicine, an antibiotic and saline. She was diagnosed with a critical spinal injury, severe dehydration and worm load and given 48 hours to live.
On the night of 7th October, she cried non stop. She couldn’t sleep. Every time she tried, she be woken by nightmares of the incident. She would try to scream but no sound came out. She was given Reiki and Quantum Q2 healing for 3 days in a row. 50 ml of fluid and 3 days later she had not peed even once. I was afraid that she may die of urine poisoning.
We were starting to see that she had no control over her body and was fully paralyzed. The vets finally expressed her bladder on the 4th day. By then she was so full that she couldn’t breathe. She had to be given oxygen.
My Hope is a fighter and through my blog, I want to tell her story. She was given 48 hours to live and she is still with us 4 months later, fighting strong. She is as paralyzed as she was on the day she was found, but Hope has a spirit that no one will ever have.
This kitten has been with me through the toughest year of my life and she has taught me one thing among others: Faith. Through this series I will share with you my journey with Hope and all I ask is that you pray for her each day. Pray that we are able to find a cure for her. Pray that she can run around like other kittens. Pray that she can crawl up on her human’s chest like all your kittens have done at some point in your day.
Pray for Hope.
